PS On SP

There's been a media rush to discover what was in a cache of Sarah Palin's emails as governor. Does this even qualify as news?  If so, it's of the most minor kind.  "Sarah Palin emails hint at her governing style" could win a most boring headline contest.

I don't understand why she gets so much coverage.  If she announces for President (which seems unlikely) then I can imagine following her around--not that I'd get excited about any one candidate's former official emails.  Until then, her celebrity is so overdone it says a lot more about the people covering her than it does about her.

Well as the avatar of conservative America (didn't some of the Guys gush about her in 08), she's interesting for media focus. If she stands for the heart and mind of a movement, then analyze on

It's got nothing to do with conservatives. It's liberals, who run the media, after all, who are fascinated by her. Their collective loathing of her guarantee they skew the news to try to make her seem as important and as stupid as possible.

It's especially amazing because Governor Palin of Alaska is almost a completely different creature than Lamestream-Media-Bashing Palin of Fox News Fame. The former was actually an effective and popular governor who often fought with her own party. The latter makes outrageous statements to get covered in the press.

My point is not that Palin has changed. My point is that the press has become so obsessed with Palin II that it is now spending hours combing through boring emails sent by Palin I. Most strikingly, four major media outlets are "crowdsourcing" the emails -- asking thousands of their readers to spend their own time combing through the emails and alerting them if they find something interesting.

Palin Derangement Syndrome is the only possible explanation.

I haven't been this happy since they were calling Reagan stupid. Ah, the good old days. C'mon, you anonymous libs, won't you go back to bashing Reagan a bit? Really there hasn't been a good reprise of that since "12 years of Reagan Bush."

I think the email search will be the peak of PDS. After going crazy to search through ancient emails, when if they came from anyone else no one would care, and then finding nothing but a kind and hardworking public servant, the media will sit back, look at itself amd realize this whole thing has gotten silly.
