I was just listening to this song 3 days ago. My first thought was that I had never really registered the lyrics before. Maybe I wouldn't have understood the intent of the lyrics back then. Anyway the only real "rocking" this song does is in the intro and bridge. Eric Carmen sounds remarkably like Paul when he rocks. With it's mix og high pitched sing along and nostalgic power chords, I give it an eight
I like how it mixes hard rock with sweetness. The Raspberries managed in this song and a few others to combine the two. Most bands couldn't, and Eric Carmen's solo career had too much of the sweetness without much of the other stuff.

This was one of those seventies songs upon which John Baker fed.
