Senior Moment

Time to celebrate.  NBC has renewed Community!  As feared/expected, it's only for 13 episodes.  Unless the show starts doing well--unlikely at this late date--this will probably be its last hurrah, but hey, what counts is we'll get to see what the gang does in its fourth year.  Presumably, if Dan Harmon figures this is it, he can go out in a blaze of glory.

The small order isn't a surprise.  In fact, it's a trend.  The same thing happened with 30 Rock.  NBC has ordered a bunch of new comedies, and seems to want shorter seasons for its older stuff to make some room.

Now the question is will they frontload all the new episodes of Community, or wait till 2013 for a final, continuous run? Or, for that matter, will we get lucky, have some new shows crash and burn, and NBC will order a back 9?

However it works, we're definitely living in one of the better timelines.
