A Bust In The Hall Of Fame

So no one got into the Baseball Hall Of Fame in 2013. Not Barry Bonds, not Roger Clemens, not Sammy Sosa, not Mark McGwire.  Their history is tainted with steroid use so no one wants to touch them. Even Mike Piazza, who's only suspected, didn't make it.

I think this is ridiculous.  They're still great players.  Bonds has the record for most homers in one season and in a career.  Clemens won 354 games and was awarded the Cy Young Award seven times.  Other players used steroids and didn't come anywhere close.

Does the Hall Of Fame intend to ignore a whole era of baseball?  Why, are they too busy honoring Phil Rizzuto?

In addition, once again the Hall passed over Jack Morris, who won more games than any other pitcher in the 1980s.  Let him in.

In other sports-related news, Brent Musburger got in hot water for controversial comments he made during the Alabama BCS victory (which I predicted--the victory, not the comments):

So during a break in the game, he noted the QB's girlfriend was beautiful and joked about it a little.  It was over in 30 seconds.  I'm missing the part where anyone should care.

Like Joe Namath 9 years ago with Suzy Kolber, Brent Musburger added some humor (largely at his expense though he probably doesn't think so) to an otherwise boring game. He was channeling the the days of his youth when the pretty girls went for the football players in an era before they become steroidal goons
