Reading too much into not enough
The blogfather and TaxProfBlog seem impressed that skills be damned, it's the name that counts. Credentialism isn't even based on credentials, it's just snobbery, and ungrounded snobbery at that.
Their point is fine as far as it goes. But that's the difficulty: it doesn't go far enough.
Isn't it a practical certainty that similar phenomena would be observed across the board, in nearly all sectors?
(And this doesn't even take into account the likelihood that employers recognize "skills training" is B.S., and that what's really going on is simple screening. (Admittedly, panning for fool's gold, but screening nonetheless.))
