Bob's Your Nobel

Forget Paul Simon, Bob Dylan just picked up the Nobel Prize in Literature (New York Times link).  I honestly don't know what to say, except Philip Roth must be pissed off.

I really liked his book Tarantula. I was 15 but I really liked it.

Dylan is a lyrical genius, and if the Nobel Committee gave prizes for songwriting or lyric-writing, he should win.

But literature? Ian Tuttle takes down this silliness here.

On the other hand, the literature prize has often been given to a poet. Does that fit the definition of literature?

Well, at least he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize. That honor, at least, has never been given to an undeserving recipient.
