Pieces Of His Heart

It's Election Day, but more important, it's the birthday of Bert Berns (also known as Bert Russell), one of the top songwriter/producers of the 1960s.  Born in 1929, he had rheumatic fever as a child and died from heart disease in 1967.  He knew that could happen at any time, and it's almost as if his superheated career was about making up for lost time.
