My nephew recently mentioned a movie called "The Circle", which starred "Emma Watson and some old guy."
So if kids saw more movies instead of spending all their time on their phones, this might have been a success.
The headline tells you enough to ignore the article. Hanks had a worse opening last year with A Hologram For The King. Yeah, it didn't have the same wide opening, but even opening on only 400 screens it had a smaller per screen average than The Circle. Plus Hanks actually starred in this film, while he's more a supporting actor in The Circle.
Hanks isn't the star he was--he had a run from 1992 to 2002 that perhaps no one can equal--but he's still a big name. In fact, he's had a string of hits recently, including Sully, Bridge Of Spies and Captain Phillips.
