The King died forty years ago. Can you believe it? Elvis Presley, maybe still the biggest rock star ever, has been gone for two generations.
He was only 42 when his body gave out, but he'd lived several lifetimes by that point.

I remember Elvis's death very clearly (it was the same week as Groucho Marx's- who was the third?)
I also recall that The National Enquirer and its kind reported many times in the late 70s and early 80s about him visiting from beyond the grave such that God had to admonish him to stop coming back from the dead. His appeal seems to be beyond rock and roll.
