This is a little late, but I just found out that Jerry Booth died earlier this year.

I grew up in Detroit, and he was a local celebrity, beloved by children.  He also might be the first celebrity I saw live, as I remember going to a high school theatre to see him narrate "Tubby The Tuba."

He was in various local TV shows, often playing a clown. He even put on the Bozo makeup for a while.  Here's the only video I could find on him at YouTube.  It's about his work as Jingles the Clown, though that was a bit before my time.
