PD

Pat DiNizio has died.  He was the leader of The Smithereens.  I saw them live once when they were covering Meet The Beatles!, but I'd been a fan from the start.  They were a great rock band and DiNizio wrote just about all their music.

Saw them in 1988 as the headlining act at the WFNX or Boston Phoenix (sadly both now defunct) local artist of the year awards at the Orpheum in Boston along with Matthew Sweet and the Sugarcubes (featuring the then relatively unknown Bjork). They were a great bar band and < Blood and Roses > would be on my top 10 songs play list.
