False Premise
I've heard a number of comedians and commentators joke about how long the Oscar ceremony was. I don't get it--this was one of the shortest Oscars I can remember.

It is a reflection on our ADD/ADHD (w/hyperactivity)/multi-tasking/fast-paced/maniacal society. The Closing of the American Mind -- Al Bloom (sp?) -- has stronger meaning today than when written.
