Obama is, understandably, all over the economic mess:
This isn't just a string of bad luck. The truth is that while you've been living up to your responsibilities, Washington has not. That's why we need change. Real change.
So he's decided to go for cheap populism and empty promises.
Meanwhile, McCain came out of the blocks with this:
...the fundamentals of our economy are strong, but these are very, very difficult times.
So by mistake (apparently--he's since changed his tone), he told something like the truth.
Looks like Obama's gonna be President.
PS Among those at Obama's Hollywood fundraiser, according to the AP article linked above, was "Will Farrell." Is he any relation to Will Ferrell?

I agree. I think McCain needs to be the voice of reason among all the Chicken Little's saying the sky in falling.
Unfortunately, I don't think that will play in the media.
It's hard to imagine a more disingenuous backpedal than to say that by "fundamentals" you meant "the strength of American workers." At that point anyone who's ever heard a business news broadcast can conclude only one of two things: either you don't know how to use basic business language, or you're lying. He would have been far better off sticking to his guns.
Instead we get him shifting gears to rail against high CEO salaries? Who's he hoping to appeal to with that one?
McCain blames the economic problems on "Wall Street greed". Hmm. Who do you think he means?
Predictably, Obama is showing ads with McCain saying "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" and cutting him off right there, though you can tell from his tone he's in the middle of a sentence.
