Forry

A fond farewell to Forrest J. Ackerman, the original fanboy, who coined the term "sci-fi" (which many aficionados hated). He might be best known for editing Famous Monsters Of Filmland magazine from 1958 to 1983, but to the countless fans who got to meet him, he was also the great gadabout of science fiction, a traveling party who knew just about everyone in that world that mattered, whether in film or literature.

He also had an immense collection of horror and science fiction memorabilia, and would show it at open houses. It was only a few miles from where I live. I regret never taking advantage.
