A Word Against Our Sponsor
Last weekend's Simpsons, "Mypods And Boomsticks," had Homer learning tolerance for Muslims. The show's already been commended for its good deed, but I thought this plot was getting tired years ago when Homer learned tolerance for homosexuals.
More interesting was their swipe at Apple and Steve Jobs. Yet during the break there was an ad for Apple's green MacBook, so no hard feelings I guess.

There might be hard feelings aplenty but this was business pure and simple. As the recent campaign has shown (geez, is it already over?- I feel I've lost a cold sore I'd got used to):
a) its necessary to play along with people making fun of you (it almost always looks stupid and petty to fight or even deliberately ignore satire)
b) Jobs/Apple gets more cool points by being associated with the Simpsons than he loses from anything they say against him on the show (even if its true)- Cool is currently very hot, especially among MAC users, I would guess.
c) By participating and playing along, Jobs is essentially saying "I'm not worried about this and neither should you, its just silly dumbness"
The show itself mocked how cool Apple users think they are, while they're actually cult member, and how Jobs acts like a guru, but is just a cold-hearted businessman. If going along with this makes Apple cool, things are getting very meta.
If meta means so confusing that its unclear what it all means, then I agree (and I think its deliberate)
