New Coinification
This is from the Wikipedia entry on the film version of A Man For All Seasons:
Playwright Bolt's deletions for the 1966 film version were restored for the 1988 television film, directed and protagonised by Charlton Heston.
"Protagonised"? Isn't that spelled with a "z"?

814 hits on Google (with the s)- though some were self-consciously arty names, most were used as the wiki writer did -mainly by bloggers.
I'm all in favor of new words (don't misunderestimate their appeal) all the time but I don't like the sound and feel of this one- agonize, antagonize connote feelings of misery and pain.
Protagonize sounds like it has something to do with the use of experimental torture devices
I am fairly sure that American verbs ending in -ize are spelled with -ise in Britain.
Wikipedia contains a mixture of these spellings.
Most disturbingly, while Americans refer to the hood of a car, the trunk of a car, and a truck, the British instead say "bonnet", "boot", and "lorry". That's just plain silly.
What, worse than calling suspenders braces and garters suspenders?
Calling the subway the underground.
