Norm!
There are a lot of things in Nancy Franklin's piece on 30 Rock that I don't agree with, but especially this:
[Tina] Fey was better at [anchoring SNL's "Weekend Update"] than her two immediate predecessors, Norm MacDonald and Colin Quinn.
I thought MacDonald made his Update segments the centerpiece of the show. He was only second to Chevy Chase in that chair.

Norm was great, if chronically drunk. (or because?) My main disagreement with this article is its dismissive treatment of both Tina Fey and "30 Rock," -- which is one of the best shows on television.
I like 30 Rock, though Tina Fey winning Emmys for acting is like Candice Bergen winning them. The academy liked the show so gave it to the star whether or not she deserved it.
