Saxby Fever--Catch It!
Who'd have thought we'd be on edge over an election today? Saxby Chambliss won the dry run and for that alone has to be considered a strong favorite. Still, his lead in the polls isn't beyond the margin of error.
Many are wondering why has Obama stayed away? After all, Sarah Palin showed up, and this matters quite a bit more to the President-elect. Some say he's too busy, some say he secretly doesn't want a Senate that can't curb excesses. My guess is he realizes Chambliss is probably going to win and he doesn't need a demonstration of weakness before he takes office.

There is no upside for Obama's participation. There is only upside for Sarah Palin's. Right she runs the danger of being remembered as a joke who brought down the ticket, beloved only of fringers and yahoos.
By campaigning at the retail level, she remains relevant (somewhat at least), makes state-level contacts and gets credit for helping the party even if Chambliss goes down
No upside for Obama? A filibuster-proof Senate seems like a pretty big upside to me.
