Not Content

In an article about Blagojevich naming a Senator, we get this grace note about the possibility of the Lieutenant Governor naming the Senator instead:

Certainly there will now be immense political pressure on Quinn to make that replacement an African-American.

No doubt true, but why? Shouldn't the people of Illinois want him to pick the best person for the job?
