They Must Be Shaking

Our UN ambassador, representing our non-meddling administration, has spoken out against the show trials in Iran: "It's unfortunate. It is to be condemned." Strong language!

But don't worry. At least Iran shouldn't. The the door to dialogue is open. Iran gets to decide if they wish to discuss their nuclear program with us: "That option remains on the table."

Still, our patience isn't unlimited:

But [the ambassador] warned that "[the offer for dialogue is] not out there forever," recalling that Washington "will do a stock taking of where we are with respect to Iran in September." The United States, she said, will "look to other means" if Iran does not engage in talks.

So there you have it. Iran can kill our soldiers and civilians, support terrorism around the world, go against countless UN resolutions we support, brutally suppress opposition and the door is still open. That is, unless they continue being everything they've been for decades before Obama was elected, in which case we might get mad some day and not be so willing to talk. Hey, I thought he said no preconditions. Another campaign promise broken.

And of course strongly worded rhetoric backed up by the threat of even more strongly worded rhetoric would acheive so much
