Roman A Clef
With Roman Polanski facing extradition, there's fear The Ghost, a thriller he's been working on, won't be completed.
The film features Pierce Brosnan as a "thinly disguised version of Tony Blair" being prosecuted for war crimes. Ewan McGregor plays the prime minister's ghost writer whose research leads down a dangerous path.
The producers are claiming the film will be released (whether or not Polanski is) but I don't know, the plot sounds pretty tiresome. Maybe they can spice it up with a surprise ending--the prime minister isn't guilty of war crimes, but it turns out he raped a minor 30 years ago.

It would be interesting if it was about prosecutorial misconduct
Isn't Blair about to be named president of the EU?
I'm always surprised how the left is ready to forgive or overlook personal criminal behavior (statutory rape, molestation of subordinates (pants dropping by a gov, or worse by a president), yet wish to elevate to "crimes against humanity" reasoned differences in opinion on difficult policy issues(decisions to go to war, decisions how to address national threats, etc.).
Don't think its a left/right thing at all. They are pretty much the same. Either side seems willing to use whatever claims to bring down the other side's guys
Its funny how the right is so willing forget about their concern for the heavy hand of the state when its being used to go after someone on the other side of the aisle whether its the state going after Roman Polanski years after it matters, hauling an outspoken professor into a lockup over some yelling or bringing the government to a screeching halt over a President's consensual and private sexual activity.
I'm not sure what outspoken professor you're referring to, but shutting down the government (if only) is a sign of the heavy hand of government?
You make my point, Anonymous.
1st - the issue was perjury, which I guess isn't a big deal to the left if a Democrat President does it.
2nd - you do what everyone on the left wants to do - downplay the allegations that Clinton engaged in sexual relations with an employee in the white house - I thought we were supposed to be fighting against men using their positions of authority and power to seduce women in the workplace. And even if you defend that act as consensual (I don't recall anyone defending the Republican who emailed a male intern with the fact that the young man did not seem to resent the familiar contact from the Congressman), then there is Catherine Willy (sp?) who did not appreciate being fondled in the White House right after the death of her husband, and of course Paula Jones who did not appreciate Clinton dropping his pants in front of her when he was Gov. and she an employee in Ark. I guess these women all were asking for it. Of course, Juanita Broderick's allegations are much more serious (rape), but after what happened to Paula Jones' suit (during which Clinton committed perjury top the detriment of her case), no surprise she wised up and shut up.
It gets worse. Clinton's first defense was to have his people paint Monica Lewinsky as a delusional woman who would say anything, even though in reality she was not only telling the truth, but was a big fan of Clinton. It was only after they realized she had actual evidence (thanks to Linda Tripp's advice) that they backed down.
Well, so long as we're revisiting ancient history today, Clinton's lawyers were idiots to let him testify at all. He should have defaulted on the suit, and spun it as an unacceptable distraction from the business of running the country. How much could her damages have been?
Did Clinton hire the Colorado lawyer that Zazi had at first?
My verification word is "hypoo" - fitting?
