No Fjord In His Future
Norwegians are apparently unhappy with how Obama's treating them on his trip there. Their biggest complaint seems to be he turned down lunch with King Harald, which is a terrible snub.
It's not the first time the White House has been a bit clumsy in its diplomacy, but I'm not sure if you can blame them this time. Oslo was so insistent that, yet again, the Nobel Peace Prize be a rebuke to George Bush, that they forgot the recipient was also a busy guy. This isn't some washed-up politician, this is a sitting U.S. President. He's not a sightseer, he's got a lot on his plate. Just be happy he's showing up in person to accept the Nobel.

Heck, he's got to figure out what to do with all the troops he's sending to Afghanistan for our on-going war there -- while he's accepting the Nobel Peace Prize. Too lazy to look it up, has the Peace Prize ever gone to a figure in the midst of a war before?
I know they've given it to people who worked on peace deals that fell apart. They've also given it to violent killers.
Obama gave a pretty good speech in Oslo explaining how sometimes you have to use force. We may admire Martin Luther King and Gandhi, but their tactics would not have worked against fascists.
