Broadway Rhythm's Got Me

I don't think too much of this list of the top 25 movie musicals. About half of them are movie adaptations of Broadway musicals. Some of them may be celebrated, even Oscar winners, but with rare exceptions they're not great "movie" musicals. They're just shadows of what was great on stage.

Also, as I've written before, I'm getting tired of critics putting Swing Time over Top Hat.

Then there's this line about 42nd Street:

This inside-Broadway musical comes to life for one reason -- Busby Berkeley's choreography.

Actually, the first 70 minutes or so of the film is a very enjoyable early 1930s Warner Brothers comedy/melodrama. It's only for the last 20 minutes that Berkeley takes over and caps it off perfectly. Ironically, the claim is true for every other WB musical over the next five years.
