Economics At A Glance

Paul Krugman once appeared before a crowd of Canadians and, attempting to show how superior their health care was, asked them what they thought of their system. Here was the result:



You think he'd learn. But now he has a column stating:

...Europe’s economic success should be obvious even without statistics. For those Americans who have visited Paris: did it look poor and backward? What about Frankfurt or London? You should always bear in mind that when the question is which to believe — official economic statistics or your own lying eyes — the eyes have it.

Unfortunately for Krugman, there are people who've done more than just visit tourist spots, such as Matt Welch and Megan McArdle.

Krugman later plays around with statistics, but his argument gets even worse there.

Yes, because it's all about you, Paul. The only point is to express your story, not to see what the story is.

Guaranteed, he just continued his argument as he would have if he had gotten unanimous support instead of unanimous opposition.
