Clueless
Here's a cool idea. Someone who's never seen Lost blogging his impressions of the final season. I've seen many movies on TV by catching the last act first. Still, it must be weird to see this bewildering array of characters and events and have no idea of the backstory. On the other hand, you don't have to wait six years to meet Jacob or go inside the Temple.
But basic confusion is common:
I have no idea what anyone’s name is anymore. I thought the Rebel was named Sawyer but the Sad Day Monster kept calling him James Ford. I though the portly gentleman was named Hurley but apparently his name is Hugo Reyes.

I am one of those people that missed the initial shows and felt like I could never catch up so never gave it a chance (though I've seen 5-10 segments here and there) What are the demographics on viewership- is it all early adopters?
Generally a show like this will not pick up many new viewers along the way past the first season or so. That's been Lost's general performance. Its ratings are still pretty good, especially in the 18-49 category, but more people drop off than jump on each season.
On the internet, where so much is fake, one mystery seems to be whether this blogger is actually a long-time Lost viewer who is faking it. (Like 99% of Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" girls.) At one point he referred to Richard as wearing eyeliner, which is the kind of joke that a newcomer would be less likely to make. (For the record, the actor doesn't wear eyeliner... which is sort of terrifying when you look at the dark circles around his eyes.)
In any event, he's really funny if you do know the show.
NEG: It's worth watching from the beginning. Don't worry about catching up: unless you have tons of free time, you won't be able to catch up to the present before the show finishes. (The grand finale will be sometime in May or thereabouts.) So don't think in terms of catching up... "if you haven't seen it, it's new to you".
