Internally, Hopes in Spring

The Pirates down Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers 11-5 and are undefeated and in first place. Garrett "the Legend" Jones belts not one but two home runs. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and everyone on the street is better looking than average.

The Buccos have to be careful because if they keep playing well, management will take advantage of maximum trade value and send the starters away for prospects by May Day.

Well it does mean they won't lose more than 161 games.

Speaking of sports, I expect Duke to win, but I'll be rooting for Butler.

You and the rest of America but for Duke students, faculty and alums.

Getting back to baseball, there was more than a bit of schadenfreude in the Mets' victory over the fumbling Marlins. Watching an rbi "double" fall between the other team's three defenders was such a nice change of pace. Ah, the most hopeful day of the year -- the day AFTER an opening day victory.
