Absolutely

Al Shean was born on this day a few years after the Civil War. He rose to fame in Vaudeville and was best known for his partnership with Edward Gallagher. They didn't get along well, but a hit is a hit.

Their big number, with regularly updated verses, was "Gallagher and Shean." They recorded it in the 20s, and Shean helped re-create it with Charles Winninger--getting the best lines--playing Gallagher (who died in 1929) in the 1941 Judy Garland movie Ziegfeld Girl.

PS Shean was uncle to the Marx Brothers and helped them considerably in their early days.
