Pageant Panic
In a review of a recent Parks And Recreation, Leonard Pierce writes:
...it also features the return of Susan Yeagley as beauty queen/trophy wife Jessica Wicks. She plays the role perfectly, with a combination of unctuousness and condescension so often found in beauty queens, and she perfectly nails the repulsive Southern-dame quasi-charm common to the archetype.
Does Pierce know a lot of beauty queens? I wasn't aware that they were generally unctuous and condescending. I've actually known a couple and they were both very nice people.
