"You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances [at ‘60 Minutes’] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”
Suddenly a lot of people right, center and left who supported Obama are wondering what's wrong with the guy.
Bill Quick responds to them pretty well:
"You know, folks like Noonan and Mort Zuckerman whining about Obama, after they praised him, pushed him, and voted for him in the face of all the evidence that led less besotted observers to see him for the empty suit he was, and is, leave me stone cold. Especially because these are the same snotty jackasses who arrogate to themselves superiority over those of us less “perceptive” folks."
"Listen up, you punked, chumped boobs: We looked at Obama not through your rose colored hallucinations, but through the cold, clear spectacles of reality. None of what he’s done since has surprised us one bit. In fact, many of us, myself included, predicted it even before his coronation by people like you. Yes, it’s nice that after a year and a half of horrible examples, the truth about him is finally beginning to penetrate your skulls. But why, for the love of god, couldn’t you see it at the beginning, when it was no less obvious, but your understanding of it might have done some good?"
Really? I'd love you to name me all the hundreds of liberals who said "you know what? Let's take a chance--this guy Bush is different, he transcends politics and will raise the general tone of political discussion in this country."
Even then the comparison doesn't work, since Bush actually had transcended politics as a Governor in Texas, defeating a popular Democrat and then being popular in general as he worked with both sides, while Obama was openly and strongly liberal, and was the most leftist Senator we had.
Bush had a long honeymoon -- and 9/11 only extended it -- many people of all persuasions got behind him and gave him a chance -- but unfortunately it ended with every category in the dumper for Obama to clean up -- leading to a constant refrain among the perpetrators about what an idiot he is. On the rare occasions when a conservative feels forced to confront their own shortcomings in performance, we get "The problem was, we didn't get conservative enough."
If you want to support a guy after you've seen him in action, fine. This is a case of a whole bunch of people, including many leading conservatives, saying good things about a completely unproven guy with no experience running anything who is obviously the most leftist person ever in the White House. In the rush to deify him, they even pretended he was a great speaker since that was the only accomplishment he arguably had up to that point.

Substitute "Bush" for "Obama" in the last paragraph above (Or frankly the name of any elected president) and it makes just as much sense.
y'know, just sayin....

Save me.
