Story Logic

Ross Douthat is making waves with an editorial in The New York Times about abortion, but I'm not going to talk about it.  Except for this parenthetical remark:

American entertainment industry has never been comfortable with the act of abortion. [....] (Recent unplanned-pregnancy movies like “Juno” and “Knocked Up” made abortion seem not only unnecessary but repellent.)

I wouldn't say either film makes abortion seem repellent, or even unncessary.  Rather, they had scenes showing the protagonist deciding against theh procedure so no one would ask "why didn't she just get an abortion?"  As to why they didn't get one, the simple answer is in each case there'd be no movie, then.
