Roger Not Out

I thought the film review format created and popularized by Siskel and Ebert was dead when the last version got canceled.  With Siskel dead and Ebert sidelined (he still writes, but can't talk), none of their replacements could fill their shoes.

But it's back, and I have to say, not bad. I'm talking about Ebert Presents At The Movies.  It's hosted by intelligent and personable critics Christy Lemire and Ignatiy Vishnevetsky.  Other critics add pieces and each week an Ebert review, read by Bill Kurtis, is featured.

With trailers and other promotional material so readily available, it's not exactly must-see TV, but for what it is, it's working.

PS  Apparently Elvis Mitchell was going to be a co-host, but it didn't work out.  Good.  I don't think much of him as a reviewer.  (But as a person who goes his own way, he's something else.)
