Theme Night

When a TV show's theme starts, and there are no words, the closed captioner still needs to explain what's happening.  Anyway, that's what I noticed while watching the NBC Thursday night comedies.  Below are the themes of The Office, Parks And Recreation and 30 Rock.  Listen and figure how you'd describe them.

Further below, I'll let you know what the CC said. (Try to avoid this until you've heard the themes.)

The Office--"cheerful music"

Parks And Recreation--"triumphant music"

30 Rock--"exciting jazz music"

PS  On the latest P&R, there was a Pawnee town hall meeting where, as usual, the nutty townspeople got up and made suggestions.  I noticed one of them was my old pal Mike Scully, who's been a consulting producer on the show.

Way off.

How about The Office: mournful yet driving music

Parks And Recreation: patriotic music

30 Rock: rhythmic music

Hmm Close

Office: Sad, wistful (but driving) theme.

P&R: Mockingly heroic music

30 Rock: People who think they are way cooler than you but but don't realize it consciously music (or faux woody themes)
