Weiner: Whiner Or Winner?

The most interesting thing about whole Weiner affair is I don't know of a single person who thought he was telling the truth.  The only question was what lie was he telling.

From the start, if he hadn't done what they said he did, he would have called the cops, not a lawyer.  Then, as he decided to keep lying, and attacking, his story got less credible each day. You'd think he would have come clean before he found himself saying he couldn't tell with certitude if the photo was him or not.

Finally he called a press coference and "took responsibility." I always note when people say this, because it used to mean pay the consequences, but today it just as often means "I've been caught so I might as well admit it, now let's have everything go back to normal."

Anyway, he sure doesn't intend to quit. (Though I wonder if he'll run for Mayor of New York, the position he's always wanted.) And why not?  He knows flat-out criminals in Congress who had no trouble getting reelected.  What should be fascinating is how his party reacts.  Is he worth keeping, or is he enough of a liability that he's a goner?

By the way, it seems his Twitter activity followed an longstanding pattern.  This is why I never felt Michael Jackson was a molester. If so, he likely would have molested quite a few children, but we didn't have a whole bunch ready to come forward. (You could say something similar for Clarence Thomas except what he was accused of doing wasn't that much of a deal if he did do it.)

I could be wrong, but from a limited look at reactions, it seems women are less likely to cut Weiner slack for his shenanigans.  This is no doubt because men, as a sex, tend to be more empathetic.

PS  Maybe there's something in the air, because we seem to be having more sexual scandals coming to light than usual lately.  There's Ahnold, there's Dominique Strauss-Kahn, and there's John Edwards.

Edwards is facing hard time.  The charges are about spending political donations to hide his affair.  I think it's ridiculous he should be prosecuted at all.  If people are dumb enough to give money to politicians, then the politicians should be able to spend the money however they please.

Doesn't Athony have an adviser that could have whispered in his ear
"Tony, stop talking about your dick."

Well he wasn't sending to boy pages so thats something.

I think if he keeps attacking Breitbart he 'll be more sympathetic. Apologizing is always a mistake

Weiner and Edwards are two peas in a pod. Both believe splitting the country by viciously attacking the right makes them noble. Next to that, their sexual politics are relatively minor.

Seems a bit unfair, Anon. How is that different from Obama or any Democrat in the media? That's all they got. What else are they going to talk about? Their dicks?

"Viciously attacking the right" doesn't make them noble, only right

Good point. When you get up in Congress and claim Republicans are hoping people die due to bad health care, you're spreading the truth. When you claim rich people are the reason everyone else is poor, you're making an important point that can't help but be correct.
