That Would Be A Miracle

In Danny Heitman's piece on James Agee, we get this:

To read Agee is to be reminded that he thought in pictures, which is why, one gathers, he was such a perceptive movie critic. His review of  The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek, from 1944, promises to be around longer than the movie itself.

Agee wrote some fascinating stuff about cinema, and much else besides. But his review outliving Morgan's Creek? This isn't exactlly a forgotten film. It was a huge hit back then and, if anything, is more highly regarded today.

In fact, let me make a prediction: a century hence, people will still be watching Preston Sturges' movies while Agee will rarely be read.
