The Kunk
Russ Kunkel turns 70 today. You may not have heard of him, but you've heard him. He's a great session drummer who's worked with names such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Neil Diamond, Carly Simon and many others.

was runk a member of the wrecking crew or just his own wrunking crew. Just finished a book about them. Amazin how so many hit records had their backing and effective grooves, baselines, or fills. Also interesting how many 60-70s groups were essential just vocal groups. (I imagine it is still largely true.)
Russ Kunkel started doing his best work in the 70s, so really he's the generation after the Wrecking Crew.
