Dry Powder
The meaning of expressions, like words, can change through time. One that seems on the move is "keep your powder dry." The phrase goes back to Cromwell, and means be ready to shoot.
However, the last few times I've heard it, the speaker seemed to be saying "hold off shooting, it's not time yet." If the trend continues, in a few decades that'll be the mainstream meaning.
