"You couldn’t have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances [at ‘60 Minutes’] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.”
It's been seven years. I remember like it was yesterday. Still, we've generally settled back like it never happened. I suppose that's mostly a good thing.
It made me (as QG likes to say) a one-issue voter. The primary job of the Government, as far as I'm concerned, is to keep the citizens of this country safe so that they can live their lives and go about their business in peace.
If a candidate can convince me they have that idea uppermost in their mind, they've passed the test and we can then discuss other issues.
If not, I won't vote for them no matter what party they're from.
No, I disagree, it's not at all like it never happened. Life in the US has fundamentally changed. We now accept searches at airports, constraints on what we carry on to airplanes, wiretaps, email monitoring, imprisonment without trial, the list goes on and on. Some people, apparently even VG, seem to think this is a good thing.
Hey VG maybe you are unbiased enough to vote for either party based on that issue, but the rest of the country seems to lean Republican based on that issue. I don't quite get that. A Republican was in office during the 9-11 attacks. A Democrat was in office during the previous WTC attack. Neither were able to eliminate Bin Laden. Doesn't seem like either party wins that argument. Wish more saw it your way.
Maybe others have settled back, but New Yorkers and frequent fliers sure haven't. Someone left a SpongeBob SquarePants lunchbox unattended on a wall in Port Authority bus terminal last week, and I could see about half the riders eying it like a potential bomb.

Oh, I love a good character assassination! Please go on...

Smart. If one of those Crabby Patties blew, it'd take out half the terminal.
