Hitting A Nerve
Obama went off on Sarah Palin for taking a jab at him as a "community organizer":
"Why would that kind of work be ridiculous?" Obama said. "Who are they fighting for? What are they advocating for? They think that the lives of those folks who are struggling each and every day, that working with them to try to improve their lives is somehow not relevant to the presidency? I think maybe that's the problem -- that's part of why they're out of touch and they don't get it 'cause they haven't spent much time working on behalf of those folks."
To be honest, when I hear the term "community organizer," it doesn't automatically conjure up something positive. Sounds like it could be a troublemaker, or at least a major noodnik. Then again, it doesn't bother me as much as "politician."

I think the relevant question for Obama would be: What exactly did you do as a "community organizer" and what were your accomplishments? Like his role with the Annenberg Challenge (his primary association with Bill Ayres) - which no one in the Obama camp wants anyone to talk about - there doesn't seem to be any real accomplishments to crow about.
Also, the meme making the rounds now at the liberal blogs is "Jesus was a community organizer. Pilate was a governor." I'm not sure making another allusion to Obama as a messianic figure is really helping the cause.
I like Jim Treacher's line best: You know who else was a community organizer? Don Corleone.
Wasn't "operation rescue" filled with community organizers?- boy there's something neither side wants to bring up.
Here's another line about community organizers. Who wants to name that tune:
"I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good."
