New Policy Not Overdue

There's a new policy at the Los Angeles Public Library. They used to give you three weeks, now you have to return a book in two weeks. This won't do. Like many patrons, I often take out more than one book, and some of them are long. Three weeks is about right. I don't like to be rushed. What's the point of this new policy?

The point is to make it easier and faster to impose fines. Haven't you heard the state budget is in the shitter? Those few bucks they can collect on library fines are going to make a significant impact. Maybe now they won't have to raise taxes. The Governator is thrilled.

I guess that clears up the mystery. Maybe they should give you the book and not let you know when it has to be returned. Library roulette.
