Saturday Night Lame
I just watched the SNL season premiere. The Sarah Palin opening was fine, but, considering they had all summer to prepare, I was surprised how weak the sketches were.

I heard that Obama himself was going to be the guest, but then he cancelled because making jokes during a Time Of Tragedy might have seemed in poor taste.
(I think yesterday was a Time Of Tragedy because of the hurricane, but for all I know it was the anniversary of 9/11 or the death of a dolphin or something. I think the real reason that McCain/Palin are leaping ahead is that they aren't dour all the time, like Obama and they guy who thinks Hillary would have been a better choice than himself.)
He not only thinks Hillary is a better choice than himself, he's also said that McCain is a better Presidential candidate than Obama.
Can you imagine this campaign if Hillary were either the nominee and the VP pick- All the people outraged over family values and improper attacks would have exactly the opposite opinions as they do now-
Definitely, NE Guy. I wish all commentators were required to substitute "Democratic" for "Republican" and "conservative" for "liberal" into their opinions and look them over before they were allowed to post or speak them. It would make discussions a lot more intelligent and much shorter. (Goes for both sides, by the way.)
With respect to Mr. King's comment about it being dour to cancel due to bad hurricanes, here in Minneapolis, the Republicans did just that for about two days of their convention due to Gustav. It was pretty dour, but it's easy to forget now.
