Let 'em Suffer

I watched American Idol on Tuesday. (Wednesday is for Lost.) The judges separated the contestants into four rooms, and then went into each room to tell them if they're going on to the next level.

In the winning rooms, the judges had long faces and went into a long spiel about how everyone tried their best before telling them they made it. They even had people crying before they got the good news.

A rather tawdry move for a show that already has more than enough built-in drama.
