Conanism
The first week of ratings for Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show are in. They declined every night, and by Friday were half what they were on Monday.
This isn't too surprising. There was a curiosity factor and ratings started the week artificially high. This week is where we can start to measure Conan's true appeal. The public has had its chance to sample him. Now we'll see if they want to stick around.

Since I don't read much entertainment news, I was amazed that Andy Richter had returned! I was disappointed when he left years ago. If he fully resumes his old role, Conan's show will be great.
The final Leno show was surprisingly moving to me, especially the end. But then, I'm old enough to remember Johnny Carson quite well.
His role isn't quite the same. The Tonight Show has always had an announcer (so has the late night show after it) so Andy doesn't sit down, he stands up, out of sight, until he's needed. We'll see how big a part he plays.
When Conan first got his show, Richter was almost universally panned. Then he started to grow on some people. He left the show and starred in critically respected shows that flopped, so I don't know if coming back to Conan is a good deal to him, or a humiliation.
