Party Time In The Midwest

"Detroit, Pittsburgh Both Attempting To Lose Stanley Cup, Avoid Expensive Victory Parade"

I tried to let my 70+ Pittsburgh-dwelling mother see this joke and she lit into me about east coast elitists. Guess some poobahs in the Washington press corps were pooh-poohing the upcoming G-20 summit being held in Pittsburgh and residents were offended. (Wow a 3-poo sentence)

As for Detroit, my favorite blog comment on the 2006 Super Bowl (won by Pgh., played in Detroit)was to the effect that Steeler fans were happy to go someplace where the locals had a bigger and more insecurity complex than Pittsburghers

Don't I remember some post about "I guess it wasn't Detroit's year" regarding the Wings? Hmmmm?
