There's No Business Like Show Business

Not too long ago Alec Baldwin said New York shouldn't raise taxes on filming in the city or they'll lose business. Now Harrison Ford is speaking out against higher government fees for aviation--apparently, it'll cost jobs.

So high taxes are bad for business. Both Baldwin and Ford are big Democrats. Perhaps they should consider changing parties.

There you go again -- assuming every Democrat loves every tax.

The essence of Democrats is they believe in government to solve things. This also means they believe in bigger taxes. Sure, they're selective about who should be taxed, but that's just the part that makes no sense. They recognize when it's in their interest that taxation stifles economic growth, but then can't make the logical leap that it does it anywhere you try it.

"The essence of Democrats is they believe in government to solve things."

You mean things like abortion, flag burning, drug use, crime, gay adoption, and "immorality" in every other trivial sense that offends their traditional values? Pot, meet kettle.

I'm talking about government programs that cost money. When pollsters hook up electrodes to Dems and Repubs and even moderates, the only group that really registers happy excitement when a politicians aays he'll raise tazes is the Dem.

So the War On [name your perceived social ill] was unfunded? No wonder it failed.

The one thing conservative believe in spending money on, and believes gets results, is the military.

So conservatives don't believe in spending money on the War On Drugs, faith-based initiatives, or foreign aid? That's a mighty narrow definition of conservative you're sportin' there.

Law enforcement goes along with the military spending, and the War On Drugs is where they believe law enforcement money should be focused. Faith-based initiatives are a way of moving money already being spent toward groups they favor. With a few exceptions, no one in America likes spending money on foreign aid.

I believe you are wrong about Americans' view of foreign aid. What they oppose are the distortions they've been told. An interesting question then, is how that could occur in a society where the left supposedly controls the media.
