Variety Speak
Kevin Spacey always sounds like he's doing cool stuff at the Old Vic. Too bad those shows are over in England where I can't see them (except when they bring them to Broadway where I still can't see them).
He'll be starring in a revival of Inherit The Wind, directed by Trevor Nunn. I wouldn't call the play a classic, but it's a lot of fun. Spacey probably fits the role of Hornbeck better, but I guess he's too big a name for anything but the lead.
It's weird how Variety describes the last major revival: "Christopher Plummer played Drummond in the 2007 Broadway revival, with Brian Dennehy cast as the prosecutor."
"The Prosecutor"? He has a name, Matthew Harrison Brady, and it may be the best part in the play. Ed Begley, who created the role, won his only Tony for it. Would Variety say "Brian Dennehy played Willy Loman in the 1999 Broadway revival of Death Of A Salesman and Kevin Anderson played his oldest son."

I saw the Plummer/Dennehy revival in 2007. Easily the best play I'd seen all year. The two just fed off each others' energy in a fascinating way.
