Late Night Wars
First Conan O'Brien gives himself a concussion. Now David Letterman admits he fooled around with his staff, which led to an attempt at extortion.
What these guys won't do for ratings.

The upcoming news cycle on Letterman will be interesting- first an initial wave of sympathy for the blackmailing and bravery at confronting it, then it will morph into discussions of moral character and sexual harassment/male scumbaggery (maybe Sarah P will weigh in to distract from the negative book reviews) but there more interesting point might be about a prime time network gotcha show using that info to nefarious ends though its unclear that MSM will want to pursue the last thread
I think phase 1 (sympathy) will be over by midmorning
Letterman's lucky, when you think about it. If his screwing around and cheating on his family had to come out, it couldn't be better than in a context where it looks like he's protecting his family.
However, it will be harder for him to make Mark Sanford jokes.
The best thing about the whole story is the blackmailer threatened to put the information he had on Letterman into a screenplay. How Hollywood.
I'm still waiting for the focus to switch the evil journalists on the newsmagazines (didn't that stuff start this blog?)
