Ho NOW Brown Wow
The local race for Governor has been depressing. Right off the bat, neither candidate is a movie star. Then a series of ads accusing Meg Whitman of, in essence, running a company (i.e., she had a big salary and fired people) is supposed to make us vote against her.
But finally we have an interesting controversy: Jerry Brown (recently endorsed by NOW) was leaving a message for a police union official and forgot to hang up--those darn cell phones--so his private conversation was recorded. Next thing you know, Brown is saying Whitman will do anything for an endorsement, such as cutting a secret deal with this union to save their pensions. An aide suggests they call her a "whore" and Brown thinks this is worth looking into.
Impressive. He truly seems to believe to be an effective governor he'll have to deal with public unions in ways they may not like. I didn't know he had it in him.
The union official, incidentally, denies Whitman has cut any deals.

Well all politicians are whores but I guess when a male candidate uses it against a female one, there's going to be talk.
Regardless of a view ao unions, cutting a secret deal that may fly in the face of other stated positions is probably deserving of the easy virtue sobriquet.
