The Next Question

I've seen the trailer for The Business Of Being Born more than once. As far as I can tell, it's a documentary that claims corporations have taken over the medical industry and are forcing too many women to have c-sections.

In the trailer, they site the questionable stat that the U.S. has one of the worst newborn death rates among industrialized nations. Let's assume this is true. Then I have to ask, how do women who get c-sections and similarly situated women who don't compare? (And how do hospital survival rates compare with giving birth at home aided by midwives?)
