Family Plot

The creators of Rear Window are suing the creators of Disturbia. There are definite similarities, and everyone noticed them--a guy is stuck in one place, watches through his window at a neighbor who seems to be committing a crime, and soon his girlfriend gets involved in the danger.

Big deal. Ninety percent of the romantic comedies in Hollywood have the same plot (boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl). This may be a little more particular, but the feeling, the look, the style and twists are different. Specific expression should be protected by copyright, but not something at this level or generality.
