Don't Get Too Excited--Not Like It's The Oscars
The Emmy nominations will be announced at one minute after midnight. There's actually a lot of good stuff out there I hope gets recognized.
Comedies like 30 Rock and The Office are certain to garner nominations, most of them deserved. But it would be nice to see My Name Is Earl get a little recognition now that it's canceled. And this should be the year for The Big Bang Theory, and Jim Parsons as Sheldon, to get nominated.
Lately, though, TV has been better in the drama department. Above all, Lost needs not only to be nominated, but to win again for best show. Then there's an old reliable, House. I think Hugh Laurie's performance, which hasn't won an Emmy (while James Spader won a bunch), is being taken for granted. It's time. And while HBO may not be in the running as it has in the past, AMC, against all odds, has two great shows, Mad Men and Breaking Bad. They should both be up for numerous awards.
